This miniature bronze dagger (pugio) is less than 8 centimeters (3 inches) in length. It may have been an implement for cosmetics or a medical tool, but the small thread hole at the base of the handle suggests it was worn as a pendant, perhaps as a votive pendant, an amulet, or a memento. Could it be related to the brutal combat games the Romans inherited from the Etruscans? Etruria or Roman world, 104 BC to 400 AD.
