  This stone sculpture represents Aphrodite and her son Eros. She is shown standing, her half-nudity highlighted by the delicate draping of her garments, her head crowned by a diadem. By her side, Eros clutches in his hands a conch—object often associated with Aphrodite. Greece, 325-225 BC.

Such statues were commonly found at the entrance of cities dedicated to the divinity portrayed.
